Nonya Desserts & Others


Kueh Bingka  (Nonya Tapioca Cake) - The planning for the Father's Day dinner menu started about 1 week back..between my mum, maid and I.  Finally we settled for a Nonya/Indonesian theme with my mother making her Nasi Lemak which is my youngest son's favourite.  Her maid, Sarifah made Soto Ayam and Begadil (Potato Cutlet).  In line with the theme, my mother suggested that I made either the Pulut Serikaya (glutinous rice with kaya) or Kueh Bingka if she can get good Tapioca from the market.

It has been a while that I have made Nonya desserts again...refreshing change from the western cakes.  Grating the tapioca, squeezing the coconut creme, pandan leaves etc.  Satisfied with the end result.  Looks like I will start making more again...going back to my roots!!
